DarshanaSūtra (Yoga Darshana)
पातञ्जलयोगसूत्राणि
Patanjali Yogasutra
Patañjalic. 2nd Century BCE – 4th Century CESūtra (Yoga Darshana)
The foundational text of the Yoga darshana — one of the six āstika schools of classical Indian philosophy — comprising 196 aphoristic sūtras across four pādas (Samādhi, Sādhana, Vibhūti, Kaivalya). Codifies the eight-limbed path (aṣṭāṅga yoga) culminating in the cessation of mental modifications (citta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ) and liberation. The traditional dhyāna-śloka credits Patañjali with purifying mind through Yoga, speech through grammar, and body through medicine.

yogena cittasya padena vācāṃ malaṃ śarīrasya ca vaidyakena | yo'pākarot taṃ pravaraṃ munīnāṃ patañjaliṃ prāñjalir ānato'smi ||
I bow with folded hands to Patañjali, the foremost of sages — who removed the impurity of the mind through Yoga, of speech through grammar, and of the body through medicine.
