Lingashtakam is an eight-verse hymn to the Shiva linga, attributed to Adi Shankaracharya (8th century CE) and among the most widely recited Shaiva stotras in temples and homes alike. Each verse ends tatpraṇamāmi sadāśiva liṅgam — "to that eternal Shiva linga I bow" — moving through the linga worshipped by Brahma and Vishnu, anointed with sandal and kumkum, encircled by the serpent lord, and radiant as a million suns. The phalashruti promises Shiva's own world to one who recites it in his presence.
