Yoga
योगः
Yoga adds the Sun's and Moon's sidereal positions together and divides the sky into 27 equal slices, the same way nakshatra divides the Moon's path alone. It's a purely mathematical combination, not a planetary alignment or conjunction — but Vedic tradition has tracked it for over two thousand years as part of a complete day's timing.

Why it matters
Yoga is used alongside tithi and nakshatra to judge whether a day suits a particular activity — some yogas are traditionally considered favorable for beginnings, others are better avoided. It's one of the five limbs (pancha-anga) that give the panchangam its name.
How it's calculated
Add the Moon's sidereal longitude and the Sun's sidereal longitude together, then divide the result into 27 equal parts of 13°20' each — the same-sized slices as the 27 nakshatras, just measuring a combined position instead of the Moon's alone.
